How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you get to become specialized in Executive Administrative Assistance?
I started Scratchpad Secretaries in 2008 after leaving my corporate job in events and venue sales. I knew I wanted to start something of my own, from home, and with low to no overhead. My trade was in Business Administration and I was quite good at minding the details of some of the larger deals and projects I had teed up in the corporate world, so I wanted to pull on those skills. Simply put, I did my research and saw a desperate need in the marketplace for administrative assistance for entrepreneurs who were also working from home. And then I discovered the Virtual Assistant industry and knew I was onto something. And I was! Big time. There is just such a need! As I started to work with various clients I saw the biggest need, and what I enjoyed doing the most, was Executive-level assistance. Being the right hand, remotely, to solo-CEOs. I’m extremely professional, hold confidentiality in the highest regard and have a knack and a finesse for both internal and external communication. These skills are highly sought after and a must if you’re running a six or seven-figure business, so there was an immediate fit with that level of clientele. “The Executive” package is for the time-crunched entrepreneur with an established and very successful multiple 6 or 7-figure business. I don’t see any hourly packages. Do you work by the hour?
Scratchpad Secretaries charges by the job as a whole. Stephanie is highly recommended in her field of expertise, bringing not only the skills, talent, wisdom and creativity needed, but the experience, too. She’s spent years building her knowledge base, is on the vanguard of applications and technology, and continuously throws her genius and creativity into professional development opportunities. You’re getting an Executive Assistant that knows the marketplace, knows her job, knows how to make yours easier, and takes complete ownership of anything she’s involved with. A lot of our clients are cyclical as well, so some months there is a heavy workload, and others there just isn’t. If you are a retainer client in this case, one month could be breaking the bank with overages, while another month (say you (GASP!) take a vacation) you hardly use any hours yet are billed the same. With these packages and bundles, you can budget well in advance and always know exactly what the spend is. If you don’t see a package that fits with your current needs, we’re happy to work with you to customize one that will work perfectly!

What type of entrepreneurs will NOT be a good fit?
Please know that I’m very selective in who Scratchpad Secretaries partners with, and will (gently) turn away clients who may find a better fit elsewhere. Our packages are designed to support the multiple six and seven-figure business owners in really taking it to the next level, so if you are just starting out or do not have a proven business model generating that level of revenue, we won’t be the best fit.
I know it’s time to partner with a VA, but I’m not sure what to delegate. Where do I start?
This is totally normal and I completely understand. I hear this all the time! Firstly, you can take a breath and relax – you’re in good hands with us and we’ll work with you to ease your stress around this. It’s hard to know where to start when you’re drowning in the details. 🙂 We always suggest that you keep a notepad next to your workspace for a week or two and jot down everything you do that makes you think “Hmmm, this is something that someone else can do, easily!”.
